Cookie Policy
What cookies we use, why, and how you can control them.
Last updated: April 2026
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit - like whether you're logged in - so you don't have to re-enter it every time. Similar technologies like local storage and session storage serve comparable purposes and are covered by this policy.
2. Cookies We Use
We currently use the following types of cookies and storage:
Strictly Necessary
These are essential for the Platform to function. They include session tokens that keep you logged in and security cookies that protect your account. You cannot opt out of these without losing access to core functionality.
Functional
These store your preferences - such as your selected genre filters or onboarding state - so the Platform behaves consistently across your visits. We use browser session storage and local storage for this purpose.
Behavioral Analytics
We track in-product behavioral events (such as rooms visited, time spent in conversations, and interaction patterns) to generate personalised insights and improve the platform. Some of this data is stored in our database to power features like “Echoes” and community quality standards. We also use PostHog, a third-party product analytics service, which receives pseudonymised usage data (pages visited, feature interactions, and, with your consent, session recordings). PostHog sets its own cookies and uses local storage to distinguish unique visitors and sessions.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, social tracking pixels, or third-party targeting technologies.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Our infrastructure and analytics providers - including Supabase, Vercel, and PostHog - may set their own cookies as part of delivering the service. Supabase and Vercel cookies are used strictly for authentication and performance. PostHog cookies are used for product analytics (page views, feature usage, session identification). Additionally, when album artwork is displayed, your browser loads images from Spotify's CDN (i.scdn.co), which may set cookies or collect technical data such as your IP address. None of these third-party cookies are used for advertising. We do not control the cookie policies of these providers; we encourage you to review them directly.
4. Your Choices
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View all cookies stored by a website
- Delete individual or all cookies
- Block third-party cookies
- Set preferences per site
Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using core platform features. Disabling functional cookies may cause the Platform to not remember your preferences between visits.
For guidance on managing cookies in common browsers, refer to your browser's help documentation (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
5. Changes to This Policy
As the Platform evolves - for example, when we add analytics, payments, or new features - this Cookie Policy will be updated. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, where required, prompt you for fresh consent.
